Lights Resolve & Trepak at Motorco

I love making show posters. It’s a great way to experiment with new a medium or concept with none of the limitations of regular client work. For this thursday’s Trepak/Lights Resolve show at Motorco I wanted to show the iconic Lucky Strike water tower in some way, and ended up creating sort of an amplifier cityscape.

If you are a Durham and Chapel Hillian, come out to Motorco this thursday to see Trepak play with the awesome NYC rock trio Lights Resolve!

Lighting the Franklin

This past Saturday the Franklin Hotel kicked off the holiday season with their 2nd annual Lighting the Franklin ceremony.

The fine folks at the Franklin offered Sprocket House the job of creating the holiday display again this year, so I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to make a display for the hotel that continues the narrative we began last year. Last year’s windows showed Santa (a groundhog in our version of the story) in his sleigh as his reindeer began to take flight. This year’s display depicts our Santa Groundhog delivering presents to the Franklin Hotel family.

Trepak Show Oct. 30

Come out to The Local 506 to see Trepak open for Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin! Come out for great music, costumes, and then more music! Doors at 8:30pm, show at 9 – and in the meantime look for my zombified portrait of Seamus around town.

Beautful Creepers Exhibit at Genome

Come out to Genome Gallery tomorrow night at 6pm for the opening of “Beautiful Creepers”! Katie Schuler, Joshua Gage, Robert Page, Henry Schreiber and I will be showing beautifully eery paintings and sculpture until November 12. Here is a look at the three pieces I have in the show.

I’ve been working on a few pieces for an upcoming group show called Beautiful Creepers at Genome Art Gallery in Charlotte, NC. This is the second of three pieces I’m making, so be on the lookout for more studio shots soon. The show opens on October 20th at 6pm – mark your calendars!

Showing artwork at risd|works, RISD’s design showroom for work by RISD alumni and faculty, has been an ambition of mine ever since I first visited RISD as a high school senior. This month it finally happened! Next time you’re in the RISD neighborhood, go check out my animal trophies at risd|works.

Cuckoo Clock

When I found this old mantel clock at a thrift store, I decided to refinish it with the idea of a cuckoo clock as the inspiration. I used the lovely Pompadour Numerals, for the 3d numbers, and (of course) made little bird sculptures and a paper feather for the second hand. All in all, a really fun project to work on.

Animal Trophies on Etsy

If any of you fine folks visited my table at this year’s RISD Alumni Sale, you know I’ve been knee-deep in making animal trophies this spring.

New Mural Painting!

Trepak Gig Poster

Here’s a show poster I recently designed for my very talented boyfriend’s new band, Trepak. Gigposters are so much fun. You can take any idea in your head and run with it. Anywho, I’m pretty pleased with the result.

On a related note, if you live in the Triangle and want to experience some 8 piece orchestral dance pop goodness, come out to Cat’s Cradle this Saturday night and enjoy Trepak’s FREE debut performance!
